Collie Buddz featuring Yung Berg "Lonely"

Piquing notice with the 2007 smokers’ anthem “Come Around“, reggae White boy Collie Buddz’ attention is pulled away from the ganja and planted on the ladies on this delightfully percolating ditty briefly heard on the tail end to his “Mamacita” video.

A light staccato club beat bubbles beneath Buddz infectious chants as some dance floor enchantress does her most desperate “slow wind” move to get his eyes her way. “She lonely/ Oh so lonely/ Said she wan me to hold her now,” he croons against the track’s mesmerizing tickles. It’s hard to understand his dialect at times, but the ping pong game his vocals play with the beat makes that quickly irrelevant. On the middle verse, impressive newcomer Yung Berg continues to sound like he’s been forging hits for years, but his presence is only needed to give this a little American bite.

Vying for Sean Paul’s place as the mass population’s premier reggae choice, the pale-skinned Collie proves that doomed one hit wonder Snow was way before his time when he gave us this one all those years ago:
