Buffalo Drive “Shock Therapy”
“Member when we played with swords/ Those early summers in New York/ You was Luke/ I was Han/ We were just a couple of dorks…” goes the ear-grabbing opening lyrics of “Shock Therapy”, an expansive, yet hard to resist, entry from Poughkeepsie, NY indie rock collective Buffalo Drive that weaves together a meandering psych-rock-meets-retro-soul groove, chirpy background vox and the manic yelps of a frontman who sounds like the offspring of Isaac Brooks and Mick Jagger.
Following that aforementioned intro tag, the storyline becomes a bit hard to follow (it seems to track one person’s sorrow over the downward spiral of a once close friend), but the many musical elements that help bring this account to life more than make up for any kind of lyrical-based confusion. The evolution of the production from a seducing late-night crawl, through the mid-way emergence of some pristine orchestral flourishes to a delirious final resolution, provide a backdrop so striking, odds are by song’s end, you’ll be rushing to hit repeat to be completely engulfed by it’s alluring ambiance all over again.

Woah. I dig this a lot. The rest of the tracks are super as well. Track 94 is like an anthem. Its like a scorcese montage in a ganster movie about the old west anthem.
Yeah this song is good. Track 94 is really good and so is the shock therapy reprise. These are some killer lyrics too. It’s definitely worth checking out their myspace.
