Months and Months Later…”Bulletproof” Is Still The Jam

Despite La Roux“Bulletproof” being available for over a year now (the self-titled album that birthed it first dropped in June of ’09 in the UK), we’ve yet to tire of the track’s Super Mario Bros. digi-pop perk and Elly Jackson’s iced over assurance to not be jerked over so easily again. Of course, much of this as to do with the many remixes and covers it has spawned (not to mention the song’s recent U.S. Top 40 gains making it even more inescapable), but still…it’s saying something that “Bulletproof” is still an exciting jam all these months and months later.

Here’s two alternate takes on the track that we’ve recently come across, helping strengthen our “Bulletproof” adoration further: the first, a nice Emynd Blend that mashes the La Roux tune with the spiraling trunk-rattling boom of Birdman’s “Money To Blow”; then, peep an amazing acoustic rendition by singer-songwriter Ariel Sabaj (discovered via MusicVagabond) that’s heart-melting in it’s quiet, folksy vulnerability (hear more from Sabaj here).

    the cover is fantastic. added some reverb and tape delay thought it might need it to sound more full and round…

    @Sam
    The original (cover by Ariel) is way better. The reverb and random birds chirping DEFINITELY distract from the beautiful honesty that is innate in her voice.
