Timbaland & Missy Elliott “Take Ur Clothes Off”
Similar to “Swat Dat Fly”, the Missy/ Timbaland collabo unleashed from the vaults a little while back, the freshly leaked and likely-close-to-a-decade-old “Take Ur Clothes Off” (part of Timbaland’s new “Timbaland Thursdays” weekly giveaway series) sadly exposes how fun-free and workman-like dance-oriented hip hop has become in the years since (Do we blame Guetta or will.i.am?).
As a combined force, Missy Elliott and Timbaland were masters of the silly dance-floor bangers that both kids and adults could giddily sweat their hair goop out to; sure, “Misdemeanor”‘s rhymes could lean on the dumber side of things, but they were respectable in their own wacky way, and when atop Tim’s futuro-focused electro-funk-hop escapades, exactly what the doctor ordered when one was in need of letting loose for a few minutes.
“Take Ur Clothes Off”, a pretty solid third-or-fourth single choice, showcases the duo’s infectious chemistry to the max, with Timb hooking up a buzzing beat shuffle that sounds like an early blueprint to his 2005 The Game hand-out “Put You on The Game” while Elliott talks her unique brand of smack: “I got a figure eight figure, lookin’ mo bigger/ Never booty shots, ass look thicker/ Ask Jack Tripper, I dance like a stripper/ Been hot since Billy Dee was drinkin’ malt liquor…”.
Serves as yet another reminder that it’s been far too long since these two have shut the game down with something new. Though, honestly, if whatever they have next can’t hang with “Lose Control”, “The Rain” or “Get Ur Freak On”, we politely request that they just not even bother.

Though admittedly, I’m not at one with the chorus
