Sleigh Bells “Rill Rill (Clique NewTrends Remix)”
The musical recipe behind Sleigh Bells‘ Treats highlight (and freshly video-accompanied) “Rill Rill” is so dead-on perfect, that you would think DJ’s and producers would shy away from trying to mess with the track’s makeup. Foolish us though, for not realizing that this is 2011, and not one record can go by these days without someone trying to give it some club-focused overhaul.
This disco-flavored dance-floor edit by Manchester, UK remix crew Clique (the folks behind that incredible Rihanna/ Prince “Sexxtroversy” mash-up from a few months back) is definitely worth a listen (or two, or fifteen) however, it’s chugging, Studio 54 groove (which, according to the guys, was inspired by a musical diet of Phoenix, Chic and Balearic House) housing the breathy coos and porno pants of Alexis Krauss almost as blissfully as the original’s dreamy, Funkadelic-sampling guitar loop.
