Miguel “Sure Thing (Remixes) (featuring Pusha T, Jermaine Dupri & Da Brat)/ Jhene Aiko “Hoe” (featuring Miguel & Gucci Mane)

As scrumptious as Miguel’s debut single, the banging 90’s R&B throwback “All I Want Is You”, was, did anyone really think the newcomer would drop a second single that would be as worthwhile as its predecessor, let alone one as good as “Sure Thing”, a sexy, Prince-inspired, chopped-and-screwed-seasoned slow jam that ended up being an even bigger smash than “Want”, going all the way to the top of the R&B singles chart, and subsequently making us obsessively search for any and everything this guy’s voice was attached to.

A bit belatedly, here’s a few highlights we found to add to our “We (Heart) Miguel” playlist: First, a couple “Sure Thing” remixes–one that ropes in the slick street Lothario rhymes of Pusha T (“She my sure thing/ My second only pure thing/ It’s like heaven when I’m untying them drawstrings…”), another, a bouncy So So Def revamp featuring the newly reunited JD & Da Brat–then “Hoe”, a slinky duet with featherweight-voiced chanteuse/ former B2K associate Jhene Aiko (also featuring a re-heated old Gucci Mane verse), pulled from the up-and-comer’s enchanting Sailing Souls mixtape.
