Beenie Man featuring Versatile “I Love The Girls”

For all its Casio preset chintziness, the “Summer Fling Riddim” sure is irresistible to the ear, the instrumental’s sunny Jamaican-pop bob effectively capturing its title’s evoking of beachside-set, young love ebullience, while also presenting an easy Summer Jam crossover hit grab for anyone who happens to slap their vocals atop it.

Our favorite of the many “SFR” joints currently circulating around: “I Love The Girls”, a collabo between self-proclaimed “King of the Dancehall” Beenie Man and dancehall/ reggae up-and-comer Versatile that builds on the track’s established candy-coated infectiousness with the duo’s equally hooky sing-song cadences and mouth-noise ad-libs in full promotion of…well, their love for the gals.

It’s mindless summertime fluff sure, but really, a song celebrating babes over a beat this feel-good is all anyone could ask for to soundtrack some mid-July good times (plus, it doesn’t hurt that it’s been damn near forever since we bumped something new from Been).
