The Internet “Love Song -1″
Yet another surprisingly non-off-putting release from the seemingly fifty-leven deep Odd Future clique, the newly unveiled “Love Song -1″ offers a first taste of The Internet, a side project featuring OF producers Syd tha Kyd and Matt Martian stepping out to get their alt-soul on.
Here, atop Matt’s chilled, begging-for-lit-incense groove, Syd’s soft, jazzy belle phrasings play out the fragile aching of a woman trying to wrap her brain around what went wrong in her current romance. “What happened to make you, to make you start to hate me?/ I once was your heart, your love and you were my everything,” she ponders, the barely-there volume and somber emotional state captured in her vocal performance making it sound like she’s gonna just up and fade into the ether unless she receives a satisfying answer to her inquiries sometime soon.
At a length of ninety-three seconds, the interlude-like track is nothing more than a tease, but it’s more than enough to get us greatly intrigued by what else these Tyler the Creator homies have in store for us down the line…
