Santigold “Big Mouth”
Nearly a year after first teasing forthcoming sophomore album Master of My Make-Believe with “Go”, Santigold has finally re-emerged with some fresh solo newness with “Big Mouth”, a well-appreciated reminder of the genre-meshing carnival of fun that is the singer-songwriter’s creative aesthetic.
Featuring the sonically eclectic songbird launching some schoolyard chant lyrical daggers in the direction of those that “talk that shit non-stop” (a group that may or may not include Lady Gaga), “Big Mouth”, jointly produced by Switch and Buraka Som Sistema, bursts alive with a bed of multi-rhythmic world-pop restlessness sure to have everyone pulling out all kinds of awkward dance steps to keep in time with its tribal-powered patchwork of sound.
Essentially having Miss Santi White picking up right where she left off with her breakout 2008 debut Santogold, the cut (which has likely already inspired hundreds of remixes being put to work right at this moment) crackles with the exciting promise that the unexpected is, once again, to be expected once Make-Believe drops later on this year.
