Trina vs. Lykke Li “Long Heels Know Places (DJ Carter Red Bottom Re-Edit)”

Trina‘s “Long Heels Red Bottoms” debuted nearly a year ago on the rapress’ Diamonds Are Forever mixtape, and while we didn’t become aware of it until months and months later (once it had evolved into an official single/ video release), we’re kind of amazed that the record didn’t end up being a bigger deal.

With nods to both the Miami bass sound and, as seen in the video, Chicago juke footwork, plus a shout-out to Christian Louboutin’s signature red-soled footwear molded into a mind-sticking hook-chant, the song stood as arguably Trina’s (and producer Mr. Collipark’s) hottest joint in a minute, yet couldn’t quite break out from being much more than a cult banger.

Our recent discovery of DJ Carter‘s mash-up of “Bottoms” with Lykke Li‘s “I Know Places” probably won’t give the original the over-ground shine it should have scored, but his pairing of Trina’s dancefloor hustle with the indie pop melodics of the Li tune sure does make for an addicting blend.
