Young Jeezy featuring Jay-Z, Drake & Andre 3000 “I Do (Remix)”
As we stated before when discussing Yelawolf’s beat-jacking freestyle twist of it a minute or so back, Young Jeezy‘s “I Do” ended up kind of being a disappointment, mostly stemming from the hard-to-ignore dip in quality between Andre 3000′s delightfully kooky long-pre-leaked verse and the so-so contributions from Jeezy and Jay-Z (their dope rap metaphors seemed pulled from an entirely different song); but the idea behind the song (A-listers teaming up atop a Southern hip hop-twerked soul sample as a sibling of sorts to “International Players Anthem” and shout-out to the great vintage R&B-soaked beats Kanye used to rule with a few years backs) definitely had enough going for it to warrant one of those over-stuffed DJ Khaled-styled posse cut remixes, giving us the satisfaction of hearing six or more familiar rap voices planting their signature lyrical/ delivery stamp all over M16′s ace production.
That dream has yet to become a reality, but over the weekend, we did get this, a semi-new “I Do” with Drizzy elbowing his way into the proceedings for a coke-rap-free verse that drops a couple MC Hammer references and has him begging for “a woman that looks 30 when she’s 81″ while anticipating some post-vow-exchange booty-tagging.
Alas, there’s still no one trumping over Three Stacks here, but we’ll gladly accept this if it succeeds in inspiring many more new rapper/ verse additions.
