The Game “Murder” feat. Scarface & Kendrick Lamar/ “All That (Lady)” feat. Big Sean, Lil’ Wayne, Fabolous & Jeremih
Whether you’ve remained a fan of The Game since he was wallowing in the glories of heavy street buzz and platinum-plus commercial success of the 50 Cent-partnered “How We Do”/ “Hate It or Love It” days or somehow fell off his bandwagon in the somewhat creatively unfocused years that followed, it’s hard to ignore the big moves the West Coast emcee has been making in 2012’s fourth quarter, sparking much interest back into his career in the run-up to his fifth studio release Jesus Piece (due this Tuesday) with a steady stream of good-to-great singles, remixes and leaks featuring some of the biggest names in hip hop.
The jazzy-baked “Murder” is the rapper’s latest “can’t make the album because of sample clearance issues” giveaway, and similar to previous “Sunday Service” freebie entries “Rollin'” and “Stripper”, it feels like another major loss for the forthcoming album, featuring Game giving us sobering reflections on human’s darkest urges mixed in with some interesting personal takes on several high profile figures’ passings (“Who the fuck killed Michael Jackson, his physician?/ He died slow in his music, you ain’t really listen…”), but also boasting appearance from Kendrick Lamar (unfortunately resigned to just hook duties, but making the most out of the reduced role with a nicely poetic contribution) and a stand-out third verse from the rarely unreliable Scarface.
Hear/ download it below, then check out another excellent Game number that is to be found on Jesus Piece yet still managed an early trip on-line: “All That (Lady)”, a “for the ladies” cut which rounds up guest spots from Lil’ Wayne, Big Sean, Fabolous and Jeremih to a cool sample of 90’s D’Angelo jam “Lady”.
