As if you needed further proof that Big K.R.I.T. is at his best when he’s pulling double duty as emcee and producer on a track, the Mississippi rapper goes ahead and showcases this strength on new cut “Shine On”, the first taste of his forthcoming mixtape King Remembered In Time.
It’s everything one could want out of a K.R.I.T. track, he and guest star Bun B fusing fly country life braggadocio (“Cufflinks cold as Ebenezer, my momma probably should of named me Caesar”; “Cleaner than a baptist preacher/ That use to pimp”) with words of wisdom (“They say man make money, money don’t make the man/ But its a little bit of both/ Cuz it will take some change, for you to make some change/ That ain’t just some shit I wrote”) with speedy force, while an old soul sample is flipped into a dizzyingly potent brew of ride-friendly, Southern-fried cool.
